Molafos Bloat + Teric

When livestock graze legumes and some young grasses, the foaming agents in these plants can trap intestinal gas in small bubbles. As the gases build, increasing pressure forces the rumen to protrude and unless treated, can result in death. Molafos Bloat + Teric help reduce bloat by introducing an anti-foaming agent in the gut.

Molafos Bloat + Teric – the answer for liquid protein supplementation

What is Molafos Bloat + Teric?

Molafos Bloat + Teric is a palatable Molasses based supplement that contains Teric Oil to help control Bloat.

Features

  • The inclusion of Teric Oil in a palatable carrier such as molasses ensures cattle will accept the unpalatable Teric Oil.
  • Ingredients are held in solution.
  • Flows at temperatures as low as -10°C.
  • Rain safe.

Uses

  • Helps reduce the incidence of Bloat in situations of short lush green high legume based pastures.
  • Can be medicated with Monensin to improve feed efficiency and further reduce Bloat risk.
  • Can be added to hay (sprayed on) to provide a short-term protection.

Management Strategies for Pasture Bloat

Bloat is often triggered by cattle gorging themselves with legume rich pasture. Starving cattle should not be allowed access to these areas. Having Molafos Bloat + Teric readily available and feeding out grass hay a few hours before the cattle are moved into a new paddock will reduce their appetite. Watch the animals carefully for the next 2 – 3 hours and remove them if any begin to bloat. By introducing Molafos Bloat + Teric prior to the bloat challenge, the cattle become familiar with it and look to consume it to help control any discomfort associated with the bloating. This occurs over several weeks, with older cattle being better at adapting their grazing behaviour. Planning for an onset of bloat is crucial if this method is to be effective. On days when a major bloat challenge occurs it may be necessary to implement a variety of animal and pasture management measures to minimise losses from bloat.

SUITABLE FOR CATEGORIES: Breeder, Weaner, Backgrounder, Finishers
