History

Performance Feeds was formed in 1993 as a joint venture between PRIMAC, the QLD Stock and Station Agency, and XF Enterprises, a United States nutrition and supplement company.

The company was formed to meet a need in Australia for liquid supplements for the feedlot and pasture industries. Performance Feeds was the first company in Australia to manufacture suspension supplements for feedlots and consumption control supplements for cattle on pasture.

The first supplement plant was built in 1994 and has been operating since then in Kingsthorpe, on the Eastern Darling Downs of Queensland.

Anipro Liquid Supplements, which had been developed by XF Enterprises in the USA, was chosen to be the pasture supplement in Australia. The first areas to be developed were Southeast QLD and Northeast NSW. Anipro was sold through PRIMAC branches at Toowoomba and Kingaroy in QLD and Casino in NSW, with first deliveries made in early November 1994. In 1995 Anipro was delivered from Eidsvold and in 1997 from Goondiwindi, Miles and Roma. In 1998 and 1999 Anipro was delivered from Biloela and Moura.

In 2000 Performance Feeds made the decision to build a plant at Brandon in North QLD adjacent to the CSR’s Pioneer Sugar mill. The first Anipro was distributed in North QLD to Charters Towers; this was followed by Mackay, Clermont, Normanton and Cloncurry.

In 2004 Performance Feeds built a third plant at Kyneton, Victoria. This plant supplies feedlot, rangeland supplements (Anipro) and weatherproof dry minerals (WeatherPro) to southern NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

Today, Performance Feeds has become the premier liquid supplement manufacturer in Australia and is continuing to look at new and improved ways to manufacture supplements for the Australian livestock industry.
